CUHK(SZ) is a research-intensive university with an international outlook, with roots in the educational philosophy and academic systems of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Located in Longgang District of Shenzhen, CUHK(SZ) was established in 2014 as a Mainland-Hong Kong joint venture collaboration with generous support from the Shenzhen Municipal Government. The position under search is the Vice-President for administration, who is the chief administrative officer of the University and a key member of the senior management team, reporting directly to the President and advising on the strategic management of administrative and financial services. The Vice-President is responsible for leading the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures that support the University’s academic, teaching and research missions. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation
- Managing human capital strategy, including talent development and organizational effectiveness
- Supervising campus infrastructure, facilities management, transportation, and logistics
- Ensuring the effective delivery of administrative support services across the University
- Fostering a well-coordinated, mission-driven, and sustainable administrative environment
The Vice-President will also work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, academic partners, and community organizations, to promote the University’s institutional goals and reputation.

The ideal candidate should possess:
- A university degree, with a postgraduate qualification preferred, and substantial experience in senior-level administrative leadership, ideally within a large and complex organization such as a university or research institution
- Demonstrated success in managing cross-functional operations, including finance, human resources, campus development and facilities management
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to direct and develop senior management teams and to drive operational efficiency and institutional effectiveness
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with fluency in both English and Chinese, enabling effective engagement with diverse internal and external stakeholders
- A deep understanding of and respect for the mission, culture, and governance structure of a research-intensive university
- A strong sense of integrity, professionalism and accountability, with a commitment to transparency, ethical governance, and continuous improvement in administrative practices
